Local roller skaters invited to represent Australia at International German Cup

Angle Park, South Australia – Local roller skating club Team SkateFX is excited to announce two of its skaters in the artistic discipline have been invited to compete at the International German Cup from 8-12 May 2018.

Carmen Bryant, of Lewiston, and Shakira McCoy-Travers, of Mawson Lakes, will travel from Adelaide to Freiburg, Germany on 4 May to compete in the event. “I can’t believe this dream is becoming a reality,” McCoy-Travers, 17, said. “It is such an honour to represent Australia and be given this opportunity to pursue my passion at an international level. I will always be eternally grateful to those that have made it possible, especially my coach Tammy Bryant for believing in me even when I doubted myself.”

The skaters will be accompanied by the Team SkateFX artistic head coach, Tammy Bryant, and will travel to Florence, Italy when the event concludes, where they will have the unique opportunity to train daily under world-renowned Italian coach, Cristina Moretti.

“Having the chance to experience another country doing what I love is almost too good to be true,” Carmen Bryant, 15, said. “Privileged and extremely grateful is the only way I can put it. I’d like to give a big thank you to everyone that’s helped me get here, and I hope I can make you proud.”

Team SkateFX was founded in 1981 as a social roller skating club and has gone on to become a competitive club internationally in both artistic and speed disciplines. It is currently one of only two clubs in South Australia with competitive artistic skaters. For more information about Team SkateFX visit www.teamskatefx.org.au
